Laser Tattoo Removal
Tattoo removal has been the most common treatment that we have so far provided to the North Dallas area. Laser Centers of North Dallas, LLC was officially opened early 2012, and we’ve already been able to see our customers unwanted tattoos disappear. We’ve even seen tattoos completely removed in as little as 2 months.
Laser systems have come a long way since they were first used in the tattoo removal industry. Lasers have proved over recent years to be a very effective way to remove unwanted tattoos. Prior to the use of lasers people would resort to all sorts of procedures to make their tattoos disappear. Some attempts to remove tattoos include (believe it or not)
- Salabrasion: This technique is a form of dermabrasion that you scrub the desired area of skin with salts. After multiple excruciating treatments it will begin to remove the layers of skin containing the unwanted tattoo.
- Cryosurgery: This treatment is done by freezing the skin where the tattoo is located. Once frozen, the skin is then removed. A new piece of skin is then grafted to the area.
- Excision: This procedure gets straight to the point (no pun intended) and in a barbaric manner the skin where the tattoo is located is literally cut off. Again, once removed new skin is then grafted to the barren area.
Most people that contemplate removing an unwanted tattoo often hear horror stories, and start to regret even thinking of the idea. Just about every time we hear these stories it’s because whoever was treated, had been treated with a primitive laser tattoo removal system. These older lasers work by burning, rather than fading tattoos. Typically the scar from being burned ends up worse than the original tattoo.
Here at Laser Centers of North Dallas, LLC that is not the case. We are proud to let you know that we utilize state-of-the-art laser technology for effective tattoo removal. Currently we use what most consider the “Gold Standard” in laser technology, the CosMed Q-Switched Nd: Yag (532nm and 1064nm) Laser system. This laser is anything but “Primitive”. Q-switched lasers are better because they remove the tattoo while minimizing damage to the skin. The laser removes tattoos with specialized light that is absorbed by the ink in the tattoo. This causes the ink in the skin to break up. Once broken up the smaller ink particles are then removed by your body’s immune system. The tattoo becomes faded gradually with each treatment, so multiple treatments are required. Our laser system has shown to be very effective in the removal of any color tattoo thrown at it. It can remove tattoos in less time than any other laser with minimal to no damage to the skin surface.

Tattoo Removal Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How does the Cos-Med Q-Switched Yag Laser remove tattoos?
A. This laser removes tattoos with specialized light which is absorbed by the ink found in the tattoo. The rapid absorption of the laser energy causes the tattoo ink to break into very small particles which are then removed by the body’s natural filtering system.
Q. Is Laser treatment painful?
A. The impact of the laser has been compared to the snap of a small rubber band to the skin. The pain you feel also depends on where the tattoo is located. The majority of patients are able to tolerate this level of discomfort. However, we have Lidocaine injections available upon request.
Q. How many treatments will it take to remove a tattoo?
A. The amount of treatments depends on a number of factors including: The amount of ink used, the type of ink used, the depth of the ink into the skin. Generally most patients require between 6-12 treatments for adequate results.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. The price to remove a tattoo depends on the size of the tattoo. On average, most treatments are priced between $75 – $150 per session. However, some treatments start as low as $50.00. Also, we do not require that you buy a package of treatments. Please feel free to call us for a FREE consultation (972-323-2020) where we can sit down and answer all your questions.
Q. Will this treatment remove colored tattoos?
A. The inks that respond best are Black, Dark Blue, and Red. It also responds well to Orange and Purple colored inks. Green and yellow inks are the most difficult to remove, and generally take additional treatments to produce significant fading.
Q. Will the tattoo completely disappear?
A. In most cases, yes, more than 95% fading of the tattoo can be achieved. However, you must remember that there are many types of inks used today (non of which are FDA approved). Not knowing the type of ink, the depth of the tattoo, the different techniques used when applied, makes it impossible to predict the degree of removal.
Q. How do I care for the area after a laser treatment?
A. Post-treatment basically comes down to keeping the treated area clean! You may experience some scabbing, you need to make sure and not scratch or pick at the treatment area.
